don drumm t-shirt event

Choose from three Don Drumm designs on two available colors – hand screened while you wait!

Toni Billick, gallery co-manager and event organizer, had a sizable crew to help with this old-school production. Blow dryers and irons added to the heat and humidity, while the occasional tripped breaker added to the suspense. Many thanks to assistants and employees for their non-stop efforts. Who knew how many hands it would take to keep the process moving?! And, did I say it was hot? In the 90s hot. Blow dryers, irons and 90+ degrees hot.

Here’s Toni looking cool, calm and collected:

Lisa Drumm came to check out the shirts, accompanied by Leona Bowser:

Yes, it’s a busman’s holiday, but it feels like a vacation of sorts! Participating in the Rubber City Prints Dive into Printmaking workshop proved to be a nice break from the usual routine.

Out of the Box and into my home . . .

Even before I knew the story behind the box created by Krista of Rubber City Prints, I planned to place my bid(s) on it during the Out of the Box Auction. When I learned that the sgraffito lettering and printed imagery was inspired by Krista’s friendship with fellow artist, Chris Paringer, I just knew it would be mine. Now, at each glance, it evokes fond memories of Chris, who died this past April.

During Victorian times floral gifts came with subtle messages. Loves Me, Loves Me Not presents a selection of flowers and their somewhat secret meanings. It will be included in the Out of the Box Auction to benefit Summit Artspace.

Thank you to all who stopped by during yesterday’s Open Studio – I hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did. Who knew that sunshine, wind, sleet and hail would each make an appearance?! Springtime in Ohio!

letterbox cards

It took much longer than anticipated, but several images from As Potent as a Charm are now available on notecards! The vertical format of the prints translated well onto letterbox cards. Envelopes were purchased at Hollo’s PaperCraft in Brunswick and cards were printed at COS Blueprint in Akron’s North Hill neighborhood. Individual cards and selected sets will initially be available at the Summit Artspace studio and Don Drumm’s Studio and Gallery.

mint monotype

Cultivated in herb gardens or cursed for its invasiveness, mint used in monotype printing adds a subtly refreshing scent to the studio. One such print is currently on display in the Artists of Rubber City Members Show.
