    Hi there Joan

I am hoping to get hold of some createx monotype base

so I as intrigued by your comment about undercoated plates ??

Does one prep the plates by applying some of the base on to it prior to using the createx monotype inks ?

Please do reply and let me know.
I am thinking of using the base with watercolors.

We can not get this product well any of the createx water based monotype inks here in the UK.

      Hello Aine,
Yes, the base is used to coat the plate, and allowed to dry, before applying the ink. This allows the ink to fully release onto dampened paper when pulling the print. I think I read that dish detergent makes a good substitute – I’ll attempt to confirm that and get back to you. Monotypes are all about experimentation – have fun!
